Pool Prediction Leagues

Pool Prediction Leagues ~ Help Wanted !

I've been adapting football prediction league software for use with pool leagues.

If it's successful it's perhaps something that could be used for many pool leagues in the future (team or individual) and perhaps even involve a small entry fee with the league winner taking the accumulated pot?

So folks, if you could take a few minutes to register on the prediction league site and make a few predictions that would show us if there's any potential in this idea.

The easiest way is to try out the predictions on a 'real' league. The Dunfermline Blackball Summer League only consists of eight teams..... so only four matches need to be predicted each week.

If you go to the prediction league site and select 'new user' it's a simple job to register.
The four matches for Tuesday 6th June can then be predicted.

There's some guidance about the scoring system if you click 'Help'.
Hopefully scoring will become clearer after the first week's matches have been predicted and played!
There's also an option for registered users to leave messages on the site.

Select the link below 'Home' on the prediction league site to see the actual table and past results for the Blackball League itself.

I think the idea might be successfully applied to a few pool leagues next season.... it depends if this trial works out and there's enough support!

Here's the site : http://www.predictds.league...ague/

UK Pub Pool Challenge

image
Entry forms are available for the UK Pub Pool Challenge

If you email fdandco@aol.com you will be forwarded an entry form, poster and letter for your local pub or club landlord which explain what it is all about.
________________________________

Here's a summary (extracted from the letter) of what it involves for the landlord/manager of your pub/club....

This is the biggest and richest pub pool tournament ever staged. One player could win the £50,000 first prize on Sky Sports next summer.

And you could win a special bonus of £1,000 if the winner represents your pub or club.

The Pub Pool Challenge is an easy to enter tournament that will attract more than 250,000 pool players from all over the UK.

From the area finals onwards the format is simple - every match is just one frame long and anyone can enter.

Just hold your own pub or club tournament according to the rules laid down by the Pub Pool Challenge and you can send your champion through to the area finals.

The venue could also win a special bonus of £1,000 if the winner represents your pub or club.

There's no limit to the number of qualifying tournaments each pub can hold or to how many champions you can submit to the area finals. You simply need to buy an entry pack (£75) for each qualifying tournament.

Each pub champion will receive a unique Pub Pool Challenge shirt with his or her pub name embossed on the back. These shirts must be worn for area, regional and televised stages - giving massive exposure for your pub or club.

The Pub Pool Challenge entry pack will also contain a variety of vouchers for equipment, holidays, free bets and other products.

Pub qualifying tournaments will be held up to March 21 2006, after which the area finals will be organised.

The 32-man finals are scheduled for July 2006 and will be televised on Sky Sports.

So, as it says above, your pub and club qualifying tournament(s) can of course be run as decided locally..... most likely in accordance with local rules!
